Jun-ichi Sakamaki
Jun-ichi Sakamaki is an Associate Professor at Juntendo University, Tokyo, Japan (Masaaki Komatsu Lab). He received his PhD from the University of Tsukuba, Japan, and subsequently trained at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute in Canada (Robert Screaton Lab) and the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research in the UK (Kevin Ryan Lab). He then joined the laboratory of Noboru Mizushima at the University of Tokyo as an Assistant Professor, where he discovered that membrane phospholipid conjugation is a general property of the ubiquitin family rather than being limited to ATG8. He is now developing his own research focusing on unconventional ubiquitination and intracellular degradative processes.
