Shashank Masaldan
Shashank Masaldan (He/Him) is a cell biologist by training and a postdoctoral fellow in the Dewson lab and the WEHI Parkinson’s Disease Research Centre. He joined WEHI in March 2021 following a postdoc with Prof. Ashley Bush at the Melbourne Dementia Research Centre, Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health where he worked on neuroprotective functions of ApoE through the modulation of autophagy and ferroptosis. He completed his PhD (2017) on the impact of ageing and cellular senescence on autophagy and metal homeostasis, supervised by Dr. Michael Cater at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Deakin University. Prior to training in neuroscience, Shashank has studied pharmacology and cancer biology during his Masters by Research (2012) as a Junior Research Fellow (2010-2012) of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, India and as a Senior Research Fellow (2012-2013) at the National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research (Indian Council for Medical Research), India.
